How To Personalise Your Wedding Cake

Bespoke Wedding Cakes in Aylesbury

As a supplier of bespoke wedding cakes in Aylesbury, I find that most of my clients want their wedding cake to be truly bespoke and unique to them. This is great for me because it gives me a chance to be creative and helps me to provide each couple with a highly personal and bespoke service.

Supplying bespoke wedding cakes in Aylesbury means that I get to see some really beautiful venues, from gorgeous manor houses like Creslow Manor to hotels like Hartwell House, which is surrounded by over 90 acres of breathtakingly beautiful English countryside. Whilst your chosen venue is a good starting point for determining the size of your wedding cake (as discussed in previous posts), what really makes your wedding cake unique is the finer details.

Here are some of my favourite ways of personalising wedding cakes:

1.) Custom monograms

This is one of the best ways to really personalise your wedding cake, without the risk of it looking juvenile. My personal preference is to add just the first initials of the couple to the centre of the cake tier using a pretty stencil, as this fills up the space without looking too crowded. These days it is possible to have custom stencils made at fairly reasonable prices – we could use the same typeface (font) as your stationery to further personalise the monogram.

Leonora is a great example of where I used a custom monogram to personalise a wedding cake design:

The beautiful lettering on this custom monogram really enhanced the elegance and beauty of this bespoke wedding cake design.

2.) Sentimental objects

This is an unusual way of personalising a wedding cake, but, depending on the object used as inspiration, looks absolutely beautiful and very unique.

I used the image on a vase as inspiration for the middle tier of my Pink Marble design. Although it is subtle, the pretty floral pattern, which is all hand-piped, adds a very delicate touch and mirrors the floral arrangement on the top tier:

3.) Lace

Using the lace from your wedding dress is another brilliant way to personalise your wedding cake design. I have previously discussed some of the ways a lace-effect may be achieved on cakes in my post ‘Elegant Lace Wedding Cakes’ and would be very happy to discuss ways to achieve a similar look to the lace on your wedding dress if this is something that you would like on your wedding cake.
