Romantic Wedding Cakes

Ethereal Garden is most definitely the epitome of romantic food art and elegant simplicity. I chose a pale grey icing as the base colour for this romantic wedding cake, as it made a change from the traditional white. It also helped to make the delicate stencilled pattern on the base tier stand out a little more. For the florals, I decided that a fairly pale colour palette (slightly darker than delicate pastels) would look best against the pale grey icing. I also decided to incorporate a greater variety of flowers into this cake design, which is not something I often have the chance to do and I was absolutely delighted with how the different flowers with their distinct shapes complemented each other:
For Ethereal Garden I made the O’Hara rose and ranunculus the two main ‘focal flowers.’ I then added a delicate little lavender scabious flower, tiny white jasmine and pretty rose buds in lavender and creamy white tones. The arrangement was finished off with stems of trailing foliage in the most beautiful shade of green that went perfectly with both the flowers and grey icing.
Another one of my favourite romantic wedding cakes is Lustrous Lace. With its stunningly beautiful hand-cut lace appliques, dusted with a delicate pearl lustre and arranged to assemble a Venetian lace dress, all finished off with a pretty handmade bouquet, this cake design makes for a truly breathtaking centrepiece:
