Wedding Cakes in Bedfordshire
In addition to Buckinghamshire, I also supply wedding cakes in Bedfordshire and the other surrounding counties. This means that I have the opportunity to work with some wonderful wedding suppliers, including florists, venue stylists and photographers, not only at weddings but also on styled shoots outside of the wedding season.
Although I follow quite a few wedding suppliers, especially photographers, on social media, only a few really catch my eye. One such example is the work of the lovely Kat, and her father, David, of Bond Photography. After seeing a few stunning images on their Instagram page I made a point of following their work very closely! I particularly love the way Kat captures fine details – her images are truly breathtaking! Thankfully, after seeing my wedding cakes in Bedfordshire Kat also took a shine to my work, and I was absolutely thrilled when she asked me to be a part of a styled shoot earlier this year, and we planned a meeting back in February.
Kat and I initially thought about doing an emerald green themed shoot, however somehow the idea of a green cake wasn’t too appealing! We discussed a few ideas and decided that a jewel toned theme would be truly stunning. We did a little research, found some beautiful images online and Kat, with her keen eye for detail, quickly put together this ‘mini’ mood board:
As soon as I saw the mood board, I knew what kind of wedding cake I would make for the shoot. After the love that my ‘Meghan’ design received on social media, I decided to do another navy blue cake, but with more vibrant florals to complement our jewel theme.
I was particularly inspired by the florals in this image:
I loved the lilac tones against the navy blue and gold, and together with white it really was the perfect colour combination. I also loved the yellow centres of the Japanese Anemones, and felt that handmade versions of these flowers HAD to be included for a necessary (but somewhat subtle) pop of yellow! Finally, I decided to include a few different shades of purple to add more interest to the design of the cake, as well as a Ranunculus rose in a slightly pale yellow/cream shade, which I thought looked particularly lovely against the navy blue base of the cake in combination with the purple and white shades of the other flowers.
I was absolutely thrilled with the finished cake, and I was even more thrilled when I saw Kat’s beautiful images! I would also like to add a note of thanks to the wonderful Nickie from Little Orchard Vintage Hire for her gorgeous styling – it really did make the cake look its very best!
